Wolper Jewish Hospital x Jewish Care J-Jobs

J-Jobs, JewishCare’s customised employment program, is a disability employment specialist that believes in a job for everybody. If you are employed through J-Jobs, you receive ongoing support and regular follow-ups to ensure your employment journey is as smooth as possible. Wolper and J-Jobs worked together to identify suitable jobs and more importantly, a suitable candidate for Wolper.  Raf was put forward by J-Jobs and following an interview with Raf and his support worker, Raf was employed. The match was made.

That was 2 months ago, and since then Raf has been busy working in the café, in the kitchen, in administration, and giving out the bottles of water for the patients. One of our Occupational Therapists, Melanie Kanikevich provides support and supervision.

Raf enjoys working at Wolper. He likes working in the café and the kitchen the best. Not that the biscuits he’s given in the kitchen have anything to do with that….

He also loves seeing familiar faces around the hospital. He says that the people at Wolper are all friendly and helpful, and he finds there is always someone around who can help him when necessary. Being in a Jewish place of work is another positive - he likes being within the community and loves that feeling of warmth and belonging.

Tina Boger, General Manager/Director of Clinical Services at Wolper, said “It has been wonderful to see all staff warmly welcome Raf to Wolper. We are all benefiting from having him on the team.”

Without being asked, Raf gave Wolper a rating of 9 out of 10 as a workplace. They'll have to try harder to score that extra point!
